Unsafe Image Rules | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Webmail has a great feature called Unsafe Image Rules that is designed to help prevent you and your loved ones from being exposed to unwanted and unsolicited images as well as help prevent Spam e-mail. You will know this feature is active and working if you get an e-mail with images in it, but all you see is this:
This feature not only protects you or your children from seeing unwanted images, but can also help you stop Spam. Some spammers check to see if your e-mail address is valid by including links to images on another server, with a special identifying code included. If their web server sees a request for the image from your system, they not only know that your address is valid, but that you actually read spam, making you a prime candidate for massive amounts of spam. To protect you from such schemes, Webmail removes offsite image links. You can always choose to view the offsite images on a message-by-message basis by selecting the View Unsafe Images link at the bottom of the message you are viewing. Or, you can customize the feature by defining image rules as shown below.
